I was reading the review of the Elation, and the information, "fleetwide implementation of cell phone service" caught my eye. What does this mean?

 

My daughter is leaving her DH and DD to go on a 5 day escape aboard the elation. She wants to be able to call home periodically. Will she be able to use her cell? We are cruising from San Diego to Cabo. Thanks for the help. Any other options to call home??

Cell phones will work on all Carnival ships; however, be aware of the charges that will apply. Check with your cell phone provider.

Incidenally, calls received will also result in roaming cellular charges.

The base cost is $2.49./minute plus any roaming charges that your carried may tack on. I've seen people claim charges totaling as high as $6.99/minute.

 

My carrier is Sprint and I was charge the $2.49/min.
