Length of walking to aft cabins

Recommended Posts

Jean, If that isn't impressive....I don't know what is!! Lucky you!!

How 'bout letting us know how cabin 1100 was after your cruise...next week!

I've heard good things about those cabins and would love your opinion.

I still can't get over it....five cruises scheduled. I'm envious of that!! One next week, one 100 days after that...then a back to back, maybe...I think that's what I saw...and then another one!! I gotta go look at those dates again!:)

I hope the storms start coming slower soon...and they will. I am in Cabo next week and sure hope that Ivan doesn't sail right across Mexico. Hope that for Mexico and for me!

ENJOY~ Kathy

Celia:

I knew your remarks were meant to be funny, no worries. Thanks for the input about the crew stairs, I think I will be utilizing them sometimes if they still don't mind. Although, I know with all I plan on eating and drinking on this ship I will need to make that walk down the long aisle to the elevator quite often. :)

Kathy and Chris:

We will enjoy meeting you guys and can't wait for that long walk down the hall. If the next 5 months go by as quick as the last 5 we will be there in no time.

Kathy, we actually have 6 lined up, but I couldn't get the last one into our signature (Island Princess repo cruise, May 2006), so I'll have to wait until I'm back from Radiance. If they would publish the schedules for winter 2006 already, we'd probably have our Caribbean cruise booked, too.

The Diamond/Sun cruises aren't quite B2B because of the Jones Act - Diamond from LA to Vancouver, 3 days in Vancouver (boohoo what a hardship:D ), then 3 days on Sun.

Monarch is a celebration cruise for DH's birthday.

Brilliance is a 3-day R/T from Barcelona after a 10-day or so trip in Italy (not to mention the Grimaldi ferry from Genoa to Barcelona).

At least the Island will be a "real" cruise of 7 days. I can't wait until we're retired & can do some of the longer itineraries!

Hi, my name is Jean and I'm a cruiseaholic...

I don't think an aft cabin will give you any longer walk than one in the front of the ship; to the contrary, I think it will be shorter. On our last cruise on the NOS, we had a cabin sixth from the very front and found it quite inconvenient and time consuming since many of our activities were located at or near the aft. We had to allow ourselves an extra five minutes to walk the ship just to get off since the gangways are also located near the rear. The only real attractions for us near the front are the theater and gym. The food is aft and the casino is kind of in the middle. Accordingly, we booked our upcoming NOS cruise for cabin #1388, the aft corner on deck 10. We figured it might not be quite as convenient as midship, but the cabin and balcony size more than make up for a little walking. And, I still think the walking will be considerably less than on our last cruise.

I plan on asking our cabin steward the first time we see him/her if there will be a problem with us using the crew stairs. If not, we will utilize them to go to and from the Windjammer.

We're booked in 1600 on the Serenade to Alaska leaving this Sunday!!! Booked it a year ago (on board the Vision, aft corner cabin as well), and have 1600 booked for the Panama Canal 10/05! We now book by cabin availability and wouldn't think of anything but the stern. We spend hours on our "patio" every cruise and love the view of the ship's wake and the huge panorama. The walk is the very last thing that would deter us (as a previous poster said, it's only the first walk to your cabin that seems long). You've booked the best cabin on the cruise...have a wonderful time!!!!

My husband & I went on the Explorer last December. We were aft. We both workout and do aerobics. When we docked at St. Marteen, when we walked mid ship, got off then passed 3 other cruise lines to get to the end of the pier- honestly we were feeling fatigued! (But then we continued to walk to town so we could see the butterflies!) BUT for my parents, on our upcoming cruise, I did place them near the elevator so they wouldn't be too fatigued by the time they got on the islands! It IS something to consider if you have limitations, small children or are elderly!!!! IMO.
