PoohUnderstands Posted June 15, 2004 #1 Share Posted June 15, 2004 Does anyone have any good ideas of a place to stay near the pier that won't break the bank, but is still nice?
grouchy Posted June 15, 2004 #2 Share Posted June 15, 2004 Try Priceline and get a great hotel. Most places by the pier are rather pricey. if you go to www.betterbidding.com you can check out how to use Priceline and what hotels are offered in Vancouver. Time for another Cruise!
farkle Posted June 16, 2004 #3 Share Posted June 16, 2004 Yesterday, won a bid of $65 with Priceline for Hyatt Regency Vancouver (near the pier)for Sept. Rooms usually are $200 range for that hotel, and pricey at other hotels in that area. $65 was a great success. Try it!
B J Posted June 16, 2004 #4 Share Posted June 16, 2004 I got Hyatt Regency for $65.00 also for Sept.2nd in Vancouver, thru Priceline. Now trying for hotel in Anchorage and not having any luck. Even econolodge is $139.00 an night in Anchorage. May have to try 'rent-a-tent!!! cujosmom Posted June 16, 2004 #5 Share Posted June 16, 2004 I got the Hyatt Regency this weekend on Priceline for $62. Our friends that are going with us got the Hyatt Regency this morning for $60 I told her she owed me a $1 so we'd both be paying the same price. This is for Sept. 4 (sailing Sept 5) Until we set sail to Alaska on the Serenade of The Seas

pcmom Posted June 17, 2004 #6 Share Posted June 17, 2004 Wow! I just tried Priceline.com for the very first time and booked the Hyatt Regency Vancouver for the night before our 8/22 NCL cruise for only $60.00! It was fun and cheap! Thanks for sharing your experiences. pcmom
DCT61 Posted June 17, 2004 #7 Share Posted June 17, 2004 I dont think you'll be sorry. The HYATT is a nice hotel and VERY close (within walking distance to the pier)The staff could'nt have been more helpful and friendly. We requested 2 double beds, and we got them with no problem. pcmom Posted June 17, 2004 #8 Share Posted June 17, 2004 DCT61 (and/or anyone else with Priceline.com experience) - How do you request something like 2 double beds when you book a room through Priceline.com? Do you need to contact the hotel directly? Is the confirmation number I got from Priceline the same as the hotel reservation number? Thanks in advance from a first-time Priceline user. pcmom
mnwildfan2 Posted June 17, 2004 #9 Share Posted June 17, 2004 The Hyatt did look really nice when we were there, but it was still 4-6 blocks away. Walking distance, yes, but for me I wanted to be right there! We paid mucho bucks for our room at the Fairmont Waterfront but for the price, I got to wake up each morning and open the blinds to watch a cruise ship come in. It also was no sweat to walk down to the pier several times a day and watch what was going on. Still, as nice as the Fairmont was and the service was great (better than the cruiseship actually and that's saying A LOT), I'd still go with the $62 room at the Hyatt next time. I guess it depends on what experience that you are looking for. Jen 1st Cruise on Celebrity Mercury - Alaska 6/4/2004
