Princess land tour - train question

We are doing the Princess cruise tour. It says that you can only take a small carry on the train. My husband and I each have a carry on that will fit under the seat, but my hubby is also taking his laptop so we can download our pictures. Would his laptop case count as a carry on? Or is it like on an airplane - one carry on and a purse or briefcase?

Also, I am thinking of taking a smaller carry-on to use as a purse - would I be able to take both on the train?

Thanks for you help as I am going crazy trying to figure this all out!

the problem isn't that they won't let you take it on, the problem is that there isn't anywhere to stow it.
I had an airplane ok carryon (but a relatively large one - 20" by 9" by 11" and it barely fit underneath our seat. Our second carryon, a not full, medium sized backpack (cameras, windbreakers, medicine) could not fit under the seat, so I had to squish it in the seat with me. Two small carryons or one small, one medium, should be able to fit.

My second time on the train, I put the medicines and the jackets in the larger carryon, so all I had in the backpack was my cameras and since I took them out to use, was able to stuff the almost empty back pack under the seat.

If you happen to bring some luggage that won't fit under the seat, you can give it to one of the attendants and they will set it on the open air platform. You definitely won't want to do that with the laptop case, so, the case will be on your table or maybe you could give them one of your other carryon cases?

Genessa -Thanks for the info. By open air platform does that mean it will get rained on if it rains? Also, is that a secure platform or will I have to worry about it walking off the train?

It is a small open air platform - rough estimate, maybe 15' by 15', with, if I'm remembering correctly, a roof that doesn't "quite" meet. It is a connecting point between two cars and accessible by anyone riding in a Princess car. The trip we were on they did have some sort of plastic over the bags, but a real down pour with rain driving in from any angle other than straight down would have drenched them. I would guess that there were maybe 15 - 20 pieces of luggage stored there on our trip, most people knew not to bring large bags.
