obsessionr Posted November 12, 2007 #1 Share Posted November 12, 2007 Are there officially any formal night on NCL or do you just decide to dress for pictures if you want?
CRUZIN TOM Posted November 12, 2007 #2 Share Posted November 12, 2007 The typical dress up night is considered the first full day at sea. This is the time most will dress up formally for pictues. But you can dress up everynight if you wish for pictures. We decided on our 10 anniversary we were going to get the photo package. A bit expensive, but we did every photo opportunity going. Lots and lots of 8x10's for the trip. We must have had over 50 pictures by the weeks end.:)
Ruth Posted November 12, 2007 #3 Share Posted November 12, 2007 Only 1 formal night for 15 days. Not even 1/2 the guest dressed up. If you want a formal night on a cruise....pick a different line. The news letters states Formal attire is up to you. You see everything. Not much of a dress code at night. Not enforced!

obsessionr Posted November 12, 2007 Author #6 Share Posted November 12, 2007 Thanks for the info. That makes one less suit and dress we will take. Been on many cruises and already have enough overpriced pictures.
Len3 Posted November 12, 2007 #7 Share Posted November 12, 2007 After being on the cruises listed below, if you really want "formal" then go with HAL.
trish1c Posted November 12, 2007 #8 Share Posted November 12, 2007 There are scheduled formal nights on NCL cruises. They no longer offer tux rental b/c they are optional. On formal night you will see people in formal attire & you will see people dressed for freestyle as well as everything in between. Several years ago on formal night we ate with the whole CC group -- there were evening gowns, tuxedos, 1 kilt, some pants suits for women, 1-2 blazers w/ & w/o ties & some folks in polo/golf shirts or capris. We had a blast together! Nobody cared what anybody else was wearing.
electricron Posted November 12, 2007 #9 Share Posted November 12, 2007 Nobody cared what anybody else was wearing. Isn't that what Freesyle Cruising is all about, specifically dressing the way you want, who cares what everyone else thinks.
trish1c Posted November 12, 2007 #10 Share Posted November 12, 2007 That's what I aways thought. I love dressing up but I can see where someone might not want to pack all that extra stuff on a vacation. It's why I cruise w/ NCL.
associates Posted November 12, 2007 #11 Share Posted November 12, 2007 The only requirement to eat in one of the main/extra dinning rooms was that you had to have pants/slacks on. no shorts. It is up to you to decide how formal you want to get, last trip I remember seening a couple of men in top hats....hey go to my site to live hawaii all over again!:D http://www.freewebs.com/tropicaljeff/

jimc_usa Posted November 13, 2007 #13 Share Posted November 13, 2007 There's a photo package? I haven't heard about this. Do tell! Please! Thanks so much!!! :p There were several formal "photo nights" on our 9 day cruise on the Pearl. We did one package, where 4 photographers did 4 different scenarios including the stairs and different backgrounds and props. As already said the photos are not cheap. 2 10x12's $49.95.
