petesweet Posted November 18, 2007 #1 Share Posted November 18, 2007 We need help from past cruisers to the Baltics. I'm posting this on several boards. My sister-in-law is joining us on a cruise to the Baltics, and she needs to get return flight from Heathrow to Hong Kong. What is your experience about the time needed after docking to go through customs, disembark, and then travel to Heathrow? I realize she must be there a couple of hours before her flight as well. Thanks.
English Jane Posted November 18, 2007 #2 Share Posted November 18, 2007 Our friends made an 11.30am flight but that really is pushing it!
petesweet Posted November 18, 2007 Author #3 Share Posted November 18, 2007 Wow! But I presume it was not an international flight? Just domestic? I can imagine that it was really pushing it. Did they get special treatment to get off the ship first? Is Heathrow closer to Dover than Gatwick? You can probably answer my questions better than anybody, and I appreciate your input. English Jane Posted November 18, 2007 #4 Share Posted November 18, 2007 That flight was actually Heathrow to New York - American Airlines! That was leaving from Harwich though - they were first off the ship at about 6.45 and straight on the train. Gatwick is a little closer to Dover but only about an hour and a half versus 2 hours - that of course is without factoring in the traffic, depending on the day and time it can make a big difference.
