wilson9112 Posted November 20, 2007 #1 Share Posted November 20, 2007 First time I have booked on my own. I booked cave tubing and I know its going to be about 6 hours or so and a far drive. Has anyone ever missed the ship? Just worried.
halos Posted November 24, 2007 #2 Share Posted November 24, 2007 So far, we've had excellent excursions booked outside the cruise line. Thanks to these boards, you can research to see what agencies names come up the most with the most positive feedback. We just came off a 15 day cruise with 8 port stops and didn't book any through the cruise line. In Belize, we used Yhony at cavetubing.com...in St Lucia, Cosol Tours...in Guatemala, Go With Gus and in Barbados, Silver Moon Catamaran. ALL of these agencies are used to handing cruise ship passengers, are VERY aware of the time and are EXTREMELY aware of the comments made on Cruise Critic so they are dilligent with getting you back to your ship with plenty of time to spare. :) The only times we have ever had close calls, or have had the ship wait because we were late, we all ship sponsored tours. We no longer take them unless we're going to a port that may be a little on the 'unsafe' side..
Cruzaholic2000 Posted November 24, 2007 #3 Share Posted November 24, 2007 Hi, We have used mostly private tour companies on our cruises for shore excursions and have always worked out very well, we've used Cpt.Marvin Grand Cayman, Victor Boddedn in Roatan and Ecological Tours in Belize. Make sure you get as much information on any company you intend to use before you book with them. Happy cruising!
