Nando52 Posted November 27, 2007 #1 Share Posted November 27, 2007 This review is a little late. I was on the Valor from 11/11 to 11/18 out of Miami and we stopped at Cayman, Roatan, Belize and Cozumel. I have been too busy with the holiday etc. to write a prompt review. I'll keep it relatively short. This was my fifth cruise on Carnival and my first time on one of the newer boats. I had been on the Triumph and the Victory. We had originally booked a balcony on deck 7, but due to a screw up on Carnival's end, they put is in 7249, a suite right by the forward elevators on the starboard side. What an incredible room! Huge balcony, whirlpool tub, bar. Just great. Our steward was definitely on the ball and never missed a beat. We had the 5:45 pm seating in the Washington dining room, which is all the way aft. Our table was against the back windows and we typically watched the sunset as we ate. The food was great as it always is and our wait staff was courteous and proficient. We tried "Scarletts", the ships supper club and had one of the best meals we have ever had..anywhere. It was well worth the $30pp and I would highly recommend it. We also tried the fish and chips place, which was just okay. We managed to stop at the sushi place also. True sushi afficionados like myself, will not be impressed, but there was always people in line. They served a variety of simple rolls. The ship was very clean and the staff was very friendly. Luckily it was layed out almost exactly the same as the two conquest class ships that we were on, but it was also noticably bigger. I really enjoyed the "hero's" theme. We played craps in the casino every night and did very well. Our winnings covered the cost of the entire cruise and then some. (Thanks Carnival!) We didn't make it to any shows, but heard that they were good. When we weren't in the casino, we enjoyed the piano bar and the night club. We did a two tank dive in Cayman and had great conditions and saw lots of sea life. We walked around Roatan and had lunch at local restaurant. We were supposed to dive in Belize, but we missed the boat (partied a little two hard the night before). Luckily we got a refund. In Cozumel, we went downtown then stopped at Carlos n Charlies for a few drinks. What a great time. Stop there if you can! Weather for the week was generally good during the days. We had two nights of rough seas which didn't was noticable but didn't seem to bother anyone. My only complaint was that for three days in row, we smelled the strong odor of burning marijuana in the hallway by our cabin. This was quite upsetting. When I complained, they sent a security officer to "take a report." I was told that they would monitor the area and that they could not just arbitrarily search cabins. Other guests complained as well, but we didn't let it ruin the cruise. Otherwise, we had an awesome cruise and are already booking for next year. chitown cruisers Posted November 27, 2007 #3 Share Posted November 27, 2007 Thanks for the review............ The Valor looks like the Triumph and Victory but they are actually Triumph class. The Valor is Conquest class and is bigger. Did my first on the Triumph and it got me hooked. My next cruise is the conquest classed Glory.....I can hardly wait. Never been on a ship with the fish and chips.....I hope they are more than OK
