Champagne Beach Snorkeling

We visited Dominica on the Pearl in April 2007. We had a great time. We found the island to be more enjoyable as a sightseeing destination with gorgeous waterfalls, rainforests, and natural beauty. It was NOT a great beach stop. There really isn't any sand at Champagne Beach. It's all rocks, about the size between a golf ball and a baseball. As for the snorkeling, it was really cool to swim in the bubbles (watch out for jellyfish). There were several small boats from the ships in port that day which all sat offshore and dumped snorkelers into the area for a good time. However, it was not crowded by any means.

We chose to do a tour with Reyno. Best tour we did on 5 islands that trip. He runs a professional, informative, and generally fun tour for $40-50 less than the ship's tour for a family of four. And there were only 8 of us in a van versus 35-40 on a bus from the ship's tour. If you can, touch base with Reyno. We loved it.
