How do I know Who You Are?

Does anyone do anything special to identify themselves as CC members while on board? For instance, decorate your door, secret handshake;), etc? It'd be fun to see who's who, I think.

Have you joined the roll call for your cruise? My cruise in July one of our roll call members made door posters that several of us put on our doors. Roll call groups usually will have some kind of a meeting, by the pool, in a bar, etc. Some people may identify themselves as CC members, but i personally have never done that. Oh, our group in July also had t-shirts that we wore. I missed the meeting but did get to meet one member of the roll call.

I just have to say that I LOVE the idea of some kind of a secret handshake that only CC members will know to use. Any ideas on what kind of a handshake would be best? Did you ever see the remake of Parent Trap, you know, when Lindsey Lohan was young? If you did see this show, then you remember the "greeting" she and her butler had?! LOL! If you didn't see this show, they had a 30 second "greeting" that included high 5's, handshakes, hip movements, etc. Can you imagine CC members doing something like THAT on the ship?:D :D

Ya' know, I walked around on the Conquest wearing a blue CruiseCritic polo shirt or a CruiseCritic t-shirt and not one person said a word to me other than 'What's Cruise Critic?'...

I think I could have spray painted my name and 'CRUISE CRITIC' in four foot high letters in the hallway and it wouldn't have made any difference...

On one of my cruises our waiter said "I heard there was a Cruise Critic at this table". When I identified myself as such he was in SHOCK.. "you, I can't believe your a cruise critic". It was only later that I realized he probably meant a real critic.

Yeah... I suspect that aren't nearly as many of us cruising as we would like to believe....

Even on the group cruises I suspect that the numbers are well below ten percent, perhaps three to five percent.

From the response or lack of response to those cruising in Feb with my hubby and I, I would have to agree with this.:(

Our roll call group wore Mardis Gras beads on embarkation so we could identify each other.

I walked up to a gentleman wearing a Cruise Critic cap and started talking. When I asked him his screen name he didn't know what I was talking about. Said a friend gave him the cap.

One trip we wore leis and met for meet and greet before sail away. I've been disappointed many times people who agree to meet in advance never show.

They are the ones who are tipping every person in sight, they are the ones who keep getting escorted by security out of the "behind the scenes" areas as they are trying to tip them as well.:D

That's what we can done a couple of times and it works well...except for the people who aren't involved wondering...why are those people wearing Mardi Gras beads....especially first time cruisers. They look at you in a panic like they forgot something they were suppose to bring!!

I wear my Cruise Critic Polo Shirt onboard and many people come up to me to either talk about it or ask how they can become a cruise critic. You also get excellent service from crew and staff onboard.

My wife got me a Cruise Critic shirt for our last cruise on the Holiday. All day long people kept asking me "Where are the bathrooms"

Heheheheheee... I had some folks complain to me about some of the elevators being unavailable due to maintainence... One woman said 'You're a critic! You work for Carnival. Get it fixed!' It took quite a while to explain that I didn't work for Canrival as some variety of undercover critic.

I COULD have used my clout! I should have tracked down the Captain and threatened him with a bad review!!!

I have the 'older' version of the cruise critic shirt - more discrete than the royal blue one - it's a white polo w/cruise critic logo on left chest and sleeve - you would be amazed how many people either a) stop and ask me questions about the ship (they think I am a real cruise critic??) or b) stop me and COMPLAIN about something wrong on the ship - like I could do something about it? Too funny.

Last trip my cruise buddy and I got custom made t-shirts for embarkation (victory store) which included the Triumph name/Carnival logo - and all the 'newbie' cruisers kept asking me questions (how to get to their cabins, lido deck etc) - I guess they thought I worked for Carnival. Luckily I was able to answer all questions and direct them accordingly.

I am usually very active on my roll calls and a few years ago prior to our Princess Cruise we were on an airport shuttle going to pre-cruise hotel - talking to another couple - yes they had heard of cruise critic - but no they did not post. They asked me my screen name - and then I had my '5? minutes of fame' ?? " YOU'RE FROUFIE - WOW WHAT AN HONOR TO MEET YOU! (as my husband rolls his eyes!) - They were my fawning public - so exciting to have 'fans'!

I also the love the idea of a special CC handshake or how about a secret password/phrase: - 'The Secret Door is on the Verandah Deck' and response 'Yes and the Upgrade Fairy flies at midnight?"

Always love the meet and greets - yes w/mardi gras beads - and lots of fun seeing everyone on excursions and around the ship - have made some lifelong friends thru CC!

On one meet an greet we used the yellow wrist bracelets, on the last one we used red white and blue beads. Some just used any color beads. The last one in Aug was the best one so far. We did stuff all week. We had a meet and greet at sail-away, a cocktail party, a smugglers punch party, we also met the night before the cruise at the hotel a bunch of us stayed at. It was so much fun.

I just almost spit my drink -- my co-workers DEFINITELY know there's no work going on in my cube now!
