Tampa--Embassy Suites downtown to Westshore Plaza mall??

We will be staying at the Emabassy Suites/Convention Ctr. in Tampa. Debating between just going to Channelside for dinner, or taking a taxi to Westshore Plaza mall and doing some shopping and eating. Although we will be there on a Sun evening, I checked their website and Westshore is open until 10pm. Approx. what would the cost of a taxi be?

If going to Channelside, which restaurant would you recommend? I thought the NYPD Pizza place sounded good. Thank you!!

There are several good eating choices in Channelside. Where to go depends on what you want & how much you want to spend.

NYPD Pizza is quite good (at least their pizza is, that's the only thing I've had in there). NY style, thin crust, good flavor.

The food at Splitsville, the bowling alley, is actually quite good. They have very good pizza & very good sushi, and a very wide beer/wine selection (and a full bar if you want liquor).

Stumps is a good, southern-style restaurant. Kinda "comfort" foods for the most part, but very good.

There are a number of other places, but the only one I've eaten at of them is Gallaghers Steakhouse. It's outstanding, but not cheap (probably $100+ for 2).

Not sure what the cab fare would be from Embassy to Westshore. It isn't real far so I wouldn't think it would be outrageous. I'm also not sure what eating options you have at Westshore (haven't been there in awhile). There are a bunch of eating places at the other nearby mall, International Plaza.

Thanks for all of the info. It's much appreciated!
