Traveller's checks: fee for cashing them in?

Does NCL charge a percentage for cashing in traveller's checks at the front desk? I'd like to be able to use them during the cruise to take out money for the casino and other expenses.

No charge. I had some left from prior travels and cashed them last month on the Spirit at the front desk.

You will find that very few people bother using them anymore.

 

You can take plenty of cash with you instead. You can get cash from the casino and they will put it on your bill - no charge. And you get points from your charge card company.

 

There is almost no place on the ship where you can use cash, everything is charged to your room.

 

Oops... in case somebody slaps me up the side of the head. To answer your question directly, no charge on the ship. But you might have problems trying to cash them elsewhere.

I don't bother to use traveler's checks. I don't take enough cash to worry that much, and the risk is minimal. You have a safe in your room.

If you have the cheques already, I had no problem cashing them in the casino and there was no charge. ....except what I lost.

I've traveled all over the world, and can't think of a place where I couldn't get a travelers check cashed, and I still never leave home without them. I find them very useful at the end of a cruise when I use cash for tips. An no, there isn't a fee for using them.;)

I have, too, but increasingly, there are problems getting them cashed or you get charged big fees. Instead of carrying traveller's cheques or cash, I use one of those Visa cash cards.
