My Enchantment info..future cruise

Recommended Posts

Well not to beat a dead horse, but to give my up to the minute info...my TA called and said I had some "itinerary modifications" to my 12/29 5 nite E. Carribean cruise on the Enchantment. Ports still same order (as of now) but "shortened" to adjust for the slow speed. No mention of the A/C, I asked! Some longer cruises will lose a port all together. It also said that the problem would not be repaired til June. So that's all I've got right now. I hope no "other issues" arise, but if they do, we will roll with the punches as nothing is going to stop me from enjoying my New Years Eve cruise!

Happy Holidays!

From what I understood, and I don't have the paper in front of me..sorry, Grand Cayman is a 1/2 hr. late getting in, Jamaica is a 2pm departure instead of 5pm and we are 1/2 hr. late getting back to FL. I would guess you should be "officially" notified pretty soon about your Jan. cruise. We are sailing 12/29 and the info came out late yesterday (12/5).

They changed my itinerary for my 1/7 cruise. It has been reversed (which I actually like becuase this way it ends on a sea day to relax) and the port hours have been adjusted. They just did this yesterday or today. Have no idea if they plan on notifying people or not.

KarinaGW, Hey! We're on the same cruise as you! Are you on the roll call? I'm with you, I like doing the sea day last, but there's a girl on our cruise who is getting married in Key West. She's having to call everyone and change the date. Yikes! Can you imagine?

Oh, well, it should be interesting to see how it all shapes up. I'll be a happy camper no matter what! I am glad I'm in the older section of the ship, though. I don't do well without AC!!! ;) Or do they have that part fixed?

I feel really badly for her. Poor thing. Yeah, I'm on the roll call, but I work in professional regional theatre and have had to work on every show during the fall part of the season as well as being the box office manager, so I have had to be scarce from both of my roll call. I plan on catching up over the weekend.

I know the electrical problem is still affecting the speed, hence the itinerary change....dunno about the A/C. BUt, I scored the corner aft JS, so I ain't sweating it (you should pardon the expression).

We're sailing on Enchantment on 1/17 and we're notified today of our itinerary change. Nassau has been substituted for Coco Cay and the order of our ports has been reversed.

That's not a big deal to us -- but now we're in Nassau for 11 hours. Don't really want to do the beach. We're thinking of trying out one of the local casinos. Or maybe we'll stay onboard and have a discounted spa treatment. I'm sure we'll find some way to fill the time!!!!

We got off the Enchantment on Dec 1. We also had the corner aft JS (#7666) - it totally rocked!!!! It made all the difficulties with our itinerary and excursions melt away.

Great choice of cabins!!! You will LOVE it!

Hey everyone-

I'm a little confused- I went on RoyalCaribbean.com and my itinerary is still the same. I'm sailing on December 20 on the Enchantment. I imagine if itinerarys in January have been changed, mine has too but I haven't been notified!! I wonder what they changed it to...

Can anybody tell me which cabins were affected regarding AC? We have stateroom # 2526...If its one of the ones that was affected I would like to see about getting my room changed, even if the problem was 'rumored' to be fixed....

Thanks!!

JUNE???? Crimeny. I wonder if they have to order an entirely new generator thingy.

The port reversal isn't a big deal, the shortened port times kinda stink, and having to tender vs. dock is really a bummer, it eats into your shortened day quite a bit.

Hopefully, they will get these itinerary issues worked out, so that people don't need to be notified on such short notice, maybe they will actually post the correct itinerary on future cruises on the website, rather than scrambling to call everyone just before the cruise.

Ugh. Poor Enchantment. :(

Actually, I tend to suspect that your ports are so close together that the speed issue is not affecting them. Your cruise in the January timeframe is identical.

According to a poster who just returned from the EN, several of the cruises that had Key West/Cozumel/Belize stops is being altered to stop only at CoCoCay.

If you have private tours booked you may want to contact RCCL (use Crown & Anchor customer service if you are a member--much more knowledgable and helpful) then contact your tour operators.

Smooth Sailings All.

Hi Everyone! I happen to be the girl that is getting married. They ended up just flipping or ininterary backwards, but now I am getting concerned...can they or will they change it again? We have Key West, Cozumel and Belize. Do you think they could really just send us to CocoCay?? Amazingly enough, I had all of my vendors switch our date to the 8th and it all worked out. PHEW. I went into it knowing it would all work out, so that made it easier. Now, should I worry about another change?

Returned from a fabulous cruise on the Enchantment yesterday (12/6).

During a Q&A session the captain indicated this:

An electrical distribution facility malfunctioned several weeks ago. (Sounded like it needs major repairs or replacement). Due to the loss of this equipment, the electrical plant cannot feed full power to the starboard propulsion motor, bringing the top speed down to 19 knots. The full itinerary requires a greater speed.

The ship has been inspected by every entity that is appropriate, including the U.S. Coast Guard, and has been declared absolutely safe -- just a bit slower.

We had absolutely no air conditioning issues. It was very powerful in our cabin. But I see in another post that some experienced issues. I did notice that when we walked through the new section of the ship the temperature dropped.

The current estimate for a fix is mid-to-late January.

If they are replacing KW, Coz AND Belize with "just" Cococay, I'd be PEEVED. Yeah, I know what's in my contract, etc..., but you can book a cheapie Bahama cruise over a weekend and just go to Cococay. Ick!

Epsecially because on our cruise (11/26) they managed to get to both Cozumel and Key West, and would have made it to Belize if not for the medical emergency. So obviously, they can manage it.

Not sure I believe the "just" Cococay report?? I guess we'll find out soon enough.

Best of luck to everyone!

Kandlwed, you are just the calmest person ever! You rock!!! I bet the schedule we are on now will stick, since they aren't planning on the prob being "fixed" until after we are off. Did you get everything else taken care of? I can't believe the vendors got everything changed! Must be the power of positive thinking!!!

Since you are a C&A member, I'd call them and ask them about the possibility of a change. If nothing else, it might just soothe your worries!

I am on that cruise too and I like the new change because the last day is at sea. Roll with the punches, I will be on vacation.

Do we have any confirmed A/C problems attributed to the electrical problem? I'll be in 2101 in one week. I called C&A and the woman said they would never sail without A/C in the cabins. I can't imagine an inside without a/c!

Just off the Enchantment, we were on the 5 night to Grand Cayman and Ocho Rios. We got to stay in Grand Cayman the whole time but left early from Ocho Rios and arrived in Ft. Lauderdale one half hour late. I had no ac problems, in fact I never had it up all the way and was cold at times!!! I did talk to some of my friends on board and some did have ac problems.
