luvscruising2007 Posted December 9, 2007 #1 Share Posted December 9, 2007 We are staying in Miami the night before our cruise leaves. If the cabins are not ready until 1pm and check out is at 11am, what/how should we schedule our arrival at the pier. I don't want to be stuck carrying our luggage around the ship until the cabin is ready. I know some of it is checked when you first get on the ship, but do you also check your carry on from the plane flight? We did not have to worry about this with our cruise to Alaska. We had all RCL transfers and didn't arrive on the ship until about 2 hours before the ship sailed. Thanks, j
Sue L Posted December 9, 2007 #2 Share Posted December 9, 2007 We go over to the port around 11 and check in the regular bags but we keep our carry ons which contain our meds, jewelry, electronics, etc and should NEVER be checked. It is not that big deal to take one bag around for a little bit.
TravlGrl Posted December 9, 2007 #3 Share Posted December 9, 2007 When you arrive to the pier, give the porters all bags you don't want to carry around the ship with you. This may include the carry-on you took on the plane, depending on the size. On the ship, just carry around a tote bag with a change of clothes, jewelry, electronics, maybe a few toiletries and that's it.
Rancher Dave Posted December 9, 2007 #4 Share Posted December 9, 2007 Ask the hotel for late check-out if you don't want to get to the ship just after 11am. Last time we checked out at 11am, went to the ship slowly, checked in, and got onboard around 1130, had to wait 10 minutes at port for ship to be cleared by C&I for boarding of the eager small crowd standing in line. As was already said compress to a minimum the items you need to carry, you know the things high value items and meds, maybe a change of clothes as well. Carry it with you and at 1pm drop in the cabin and enjoy the wait for Muster and sail away. Have fun!!!:)
