Caution on Cave Tubing

We went to Belize last December on the Costa Magica, and we went on the cave tubing excursion.

UNFORTUNATELY there were unusual high rains for that time of year, which made this trip horrible!!! The hike through the jungle took about an hour (through the rain) and sometimes we were walking through a foot of mud. Also, the normally easy river crossing was pretty treacherous--the water was about chest deep with super high current. I am not an athlete, but I am fairly young, and can do most things with ease, and this was honestly the scariest thing I ever did.

Apparently, because of the high water levels, the currents in the caves also picked up and were trying to send us into unknown parts of the caves that even the guides didn't know where they led!

SO HERE IS MY WARNING!!

If it is rainy when you are in Belize City, do NOT do cave tubing...

OMG:eek:

We are doing this in April. I think we will be okay. That is not the rainy season.

Thanks for the warning.

With which excursion company did you book?

Last time we were in Belize, we were scheduled for cave tubing, but it had rained alot and cave tubing was cancelled due to high water conditions. Wonder why they didn't cancel the excursion you were on? Seems like the excursion company made a very bad call on this one.
