Flight time post cruise

We are cruising on the POAmerica next summer. We are planning on taking an inter-island flight to Maui after the cruise to spend a few days on the beach. What time is best to book this flight? We are staying in Honolulu for a couple of days before the cruise so I don't want to spend time there after the cruise. How early can I safely book the flight to Maui. I want to have time for a quick breakfast and shower on the ship. Then get a taxi at the pier and go straight to the airport. Thanks!

The inter island flights go fairly regularly, like every half hour or so, especially to Maui. We have frequently gotten to the airport and been put on a more recent flight than the one we were scheduled for. Of course, this was pre 9/11, so that may have changed by now.

When do you dock? I would grab a flight schedule from whatever airline you are interested in flying to Maui when you arrive in Honolulu, give yourself a couple of hours leeway and go from there.

We live on theBig Island and have done the interisland cruise several times. We always book a flight home for about 11:45 am. But, we enjoy getting up and lingering over that last breakfast and cup of coffee. We just carry our own bags off the ship...and then grab a cab and head to the airport. We are always at the airport with plenty of time to spare. So, you may be able to book a flight a little earlier than we do. You can actually carry your own bags off and be in that first group off the ship at about 7:30 am. You will definitely be on Maui for lunch!!
