Overnight in Sorrento

Recommended Posts

The cruise I'm taking is overnighting in Sorrento. Docking at 8am and leaving 5pm the next day. Do you think that visiting Herculaneum and then a drive along the Amalfi coast visiting Amalfi and Ravello is doable in 1 day, or should I break it up into 2 days? I have visited Pompeii in the past, so will skip it this time. I would also like to spend time exploring Sorrento on my own. I'm looking into Benvenuto tours, anyone have experience with them?

Thanks

I would say it would depend on how much time you want to spend in Herculaneum. We spent a little over 2 hrs. in Pompeii, then spent the rest of the day driving the Amalfi coast, stopping in Amalfi, at a ceramics shop, and a few other places before stopping to eat in Sorrento and do some shopping. I didn't feel rushed, but I would have loved spending a bit more time on the Amalfi coast.. its breathtaking!

We just did a tour with APTours with 3 other couples from our Meet & Mingle.

We spent 2+ hrs. in Pompeii with a private guide. Then drove to Ravello, Amalfi, Positano and then Sorrento. We had "on our own time" in each village with lunch in Amalfi. We then took the ferry back to Naples from Sorrento. Never felt rushed. Had a wonderful day. Amalfi coast is amazing. Can't wait to go back.

Highly recommend APTours. Our driver was not really a "guide" but did offer lots of interesting tidbits as we drove along. Made for a nice day as sometimes "guides" get a little too gabby. We just enjoyed the scenery. Nice new van too.

I have! 2 times with them, had to go back :) They are excellent!! With almost 2 days you can see everything, we ssaw in our first trip Pompeii, Sorrento and Positano. On the second Ravello,Amalfi and Positano. My advice is dont miss Positano( see the sunset I never had time for that you do) and Ravello. Tell Giovanni to take you to eat at La Tagliata. Lucky! Enjoy!
