CruisenFlamingo Posted December 19, 2007 #1 Share Posted December 19, 2007 We would like to do a snorkle excursion on this island. Please recomend one. There are so many choices out there, I can't seem to tell which companies are the best. Thanks!
passion_junky Posted December 19, 2007 #2 Share Posted December 19, 2007 You absolutely must book with Thriller Ocean tours. thriller-ocean-tours@caribsurf.com I have gone twice and it is an absolute fabulous trip. You snorkel with sea turtles, a nice reef, two sunken ship wrecks and go to a beach. Stephen makes the best rum punch ever. It is a 3 1/2 hour tour and he charges $50. Well worth it. excalwop Posted December 19, 2007 #3 Share Posted December 19, 2007 We did this tour on the 28 Nov. We were fthe only one off the Destiny but had a total of 22 pass on board . Had along wait at the pickup point. We were the last ones aboard. they took us to the wreck/ reef first The wreck had so many boat tours around this area it was inpossable to see any thing. The only time you got to see any fish was when one of the guides tossed food by you nad then you had them all around . Just to many in one place to enjoy it. The Turtles site was much better still a lot of boats and people around . Had some good size turtles there but it was hard to get photos without getting parts of others legs, arms, butts and other body parts included Took 36 pictures had only five only had what I wanted. Lunch was ok The beach which we stop off at was the best swimming area nice clear water but nothing to see just a sandy bottom Getting back to the ship was fun had a 25 min. wait to get a van And being the only ones from the ship we were drop off outside the pier and had to walk in. Not a tour I would tell others to take. Paul

Miss Vickie Posted December 21, 2007 #5 Share Posted December 21, 2007 Frankly, we really weren't impressed with Thriller when we used them, but thought Silver Moon did a great job. We've also snorkeled on our own off the shore at Folkstone. The snorkeling operators all go to the same sites, which are limited, with lots of people on the excursions, and it was pretty crowded at each site. Silver Moon did a good job of trying to time our visits to the various sites to avoid the largest of the crowds. On the other hand, when we cabbed it over to Folkstone we weren't in a crowd at all. Stevesan Posted December 21, 2007 #6 Share Posted December 21, 2007 Another vote for Silver Moon. They are a first rate operation. http://oceanadventures.bb/sailing.htm
woodofpine Posted December 22, 2007 #7 Share Posted December 22, 2007 Friendly staff and crew, convenient (pier to pier) space limited (they don't crowd the boat) good food, open bar, nice space configured deck... super. http://www.coolrunningsbarbados.com
Alebd Posted December 26, 2007 #8 Share Posted December 26, 2007 We just returned from a Celebrity Galaxy cruise and took a wonderful snorkel excursion with Jason O'Neal and Shasa Cruises. $50 pp, only 12 people on the catamaran, equipment/drinks/instruction provided. We made two stops, to swim with the turtles and snorkel over a shipwreck and reef. It was great- Jason and his helper were most accomodating and helpful, even to one of our party who wasn't too mobile. I would highly recommend them. Have fun! http://www.shasacatamarancruises.com
boilermom Posted December 27, 2007 #9 Share Posted December 27, 2007 We did Heat Wave and it was great - open bar - delicious lunch - 3 snorkle stops - and if you have time after you can stay at the Boatyard for free - it poured right after we got back so didn't stay - highly recommend!!
