vossjemi Posted December 22, 2007 #3 Share Posted December 22, 2007 I too have cruised both RCI and Disney. My DH & I prefer RCI when we go alone or another couple sans kids. When we go with our kids, we much prefer Disney, as do our kids. I found Disney's entertainment exceptional, their food the same or better than RCI, and the kids clubs were very convenient and entertained our kids well. We plan to do another Disney next summer with the kids and wouldn't have it any other way. I've never heard anyone use the word "hate" when they got an upgrade.
SweetAngel Posted December 23, 2007 #4 Share Posted December 23, 2007 Flagger, I like how you posted on both the Disney thread and Royal Caribbean thread. We are about to take our first Disney cruise, and I really have been expecting it to be the best cruise ever, but I have never been on RCI either. I hope I haven't set my expectations too high. I have always wanted to try one of those Voyager class ships (since I love to ice skate), and after reading your post, it looks like maybe RCI will have be our next cruise line. Thanks. brendanspop Posted January 2, 2008 #6 Share Posted January 2, 2008 I have sailed on both RCL & DCL and have enjoyed them both for various reasons. We sailed on RCL when our oldest was 11 months old, and although we had a great time, enjoyed the ship, boat, etc, we were surprised to be paying full 3rd person fare for him and really not have any kind of programming for him (45 min/day playing with toys with him was all we could do). At least DCL gives you 10 hours of peace in their nursery. Some might say that the 1st & 2nd person fare make up for the "discounted" kids' fare for 3rd & 4th passengers, but with more options for the younger kids its worth it for us. Don't get me wrong, I miss the promenade, the casino, and the other extras that RCL has - I'm sure we'll be booking with them when the kids get older. But for now, I think DCL would still be our preference. We were on the Magic in September and will be on it again on Saturday. Our kids are now 3yo and 11 months and we can't wait to get back on board!
