jaysue Posted December 23, 2007 #1 Share Posted December 23, 2007 We have 2 kids - 8 and 4 years old and we were wondering if it is possible to go on an excursion (assume it is a ship one so we have no risk of not making the ship departure) and leave the kids in Adventure Ocean for the day? If possible have you done this? Thanks in advance jaysue
kitty9 Posted December 23, 2007 #2 Share Posted December 23, 2007 AO is open 30 minutes before the first tour departs and stays open until 5pm. And it is a good idea to take a ship tour because if you're late and the ship sails, you've got a huge problem. I've seen this happen, when parents didn't make it back to the ship and the kids were without parents for two days until they made it to the next port of call. BTW, your kids will be in two different groups, if that makes any difference, and they are strict with the ages not mixing

Flipflopsnfrozendrinks Posted December 30, 2007 #5 Share Posted December 30, 2007 When we were on the Jewel, my DS was 8, and really wanted to stay in AO instead of going to St. Thomas. We let him, and he had a blast. I would not hesitate to leave him onboard again. We almost always take ship excursions because I am paranoid about being left behind. Have a great trip! PattyW Posted December 31, 2007 #6 Share Posted December 31, 2007 BTW, your kids will be in two different groups, if that makes any difference, and they are strict with the ages not mixing That may not be true on port days simply because of the low enrollment numbers on those days. On our last cruise, we were traveling with our 1 year old and 4 year old. We always were back on the ship by lunch, so the little guy could nap. Our 4 year old asked to go to AO a couple of times while the ship was still in port and since there weren't many kids (maybe 6 between ages 3 - 8) they had them all together. She had a fantastic time during port days.
jaysue Posted January 14, 2008 Author #7 Share Posted January 14, 2008 We took the plunge and tried out leaving the kids on the ship whilst we went ashore. We left the kids in Adventure Ocean (which they absolutely loved this trip - Jewel of the Seas - Jan 6, 2008 - how much did they love it? - They skipped and ran there ahead!) for a couple of hours when we went ashore at Cozumel. No issues, no worries, no problems. We took the boys with us on the Belize excursion - they were wilting towards the end of the zoo visit (they loved th run up the river portion of the excursion). We plan on leaving them for an entire day during our March trip. Cheers jaysue
