Beach close to pier?

Is there a public beach close to where the ship docks in St. Maarten? I am going on the Golden Princess. I want to be able to swim at a beach while my husband does the America's Cup Race. After he does that, we will probably head over to Orient or Dawn beach. Thanks so much for your help.

Carole - Absolutely! Tell him to meet you in front of the Sint Rose Arcade next to Taloula Mangos on Great Bay. It just a 5-minute walk on the Boardwalk from the America's Cup Regatta dock.

The ship will dock at the pier, near Point Blanche, right at the bottom of J-9.

 

Great Bay Beach is a fine beach, and many cruisers never get farther away than that. Lots of food and beverage options, and of course shopping is right there!

 

You will see the 12 Metre yachts anchored out in Great Bay.

 

But if you wanted to take a taxi to Divi Little Bay, on Little Bay Beach, J-7 on the map, you would be looking straight out to where the 12 Metre's race.
