Family of four - 2 girls age 7 and 10 - need kudos

Just got back from 3 weeks in Asia vacation and got so sick I couldnt plan my cruise. I've read so many post as usual, but I am finding more questions than answers. Kinda bad situation so need so quick help.

 

Arriving Jan12, Saturday off Carnival Liberty. Ship docks at John Alfred. We arrive at 1:00 and leave at 8:00, but plan to be back on shipby 5:00 for 6:00p.m. dinner.

 

We are trying to avoid a ship excursion. Trying to do land based excursion. We dont want to tour the island.The Stingrays is an option since I read Blackbeard's ray are debard but I cant figure which operator to go with that I can book on my own.

 

My girls also like the idea of finding a hotel with a swimming pool and possible access to the beach. We are willing to pay a day rate.

What is John Alfred? Never heard of that in Nassau. Ships dock at the Prince George Wharf in downtown Nassau.

It's a cargo pier in Nassau, never heard of it being used by cruise ships though. :confused:
