ESR24 Posted December 28, 2007 #1 Share Posted December 28, 2007 My husband and I are looking to take a cruise in October 2008. We aren't sure where we should go (don't want to chance hurricanes and bad weather). Can anyone recommend an area to cruise to?
Grits53 Posted December 28, 2007 #2 Share Posted December 28, 2007 We did the Glory eastern itinerary (Nassau, St. Thomas, St. Maarten) this past October and loved it so much that we booked the Miracle with a similar itinerary (St. Maarten, St. Lucia, St. Kitts) for next October. The October weather was perfect, and one of our excursion guides told us that October is part of their "off season", meaning way fewer tourists on the islands. It works for us! :)
mprucha Posted December 28, 2007 #3 Share Posted December 28, 2007 Hi, You know, bottom line really is that there's always a chance of really bad weather almost anytime you cruise during hurricane season HOWEVER, the odds of actually being on a ship during one is rarer PLUS ships rarely ever cancel but sometimes do "go around" the storm. Our anniversary is in Oct. and we planned on doing one in Oct next year before we decided on a back to back cruise in Nov/Dec instead but lots of people do cruise that time of year sometimes even with great deals! You could always look at an Alaska or Hawaii cruise as you don't see as many storms hit those areas as you hear about in the Caribbean or if you want to look at something overseas then you could research the areas that have the best weather there at that time of year. I just say, pick a ship and itinerary that you love, book and go. Get the insurance to rest your mind easier (I don't always just depends on the trip). Have fun choosing!!
