Mayan & Snorkeling

I have never been to Belize and would like to see some sort of mayan arch. site and snorkel...My boyfriend and I will be there from 8AM to 11PM so I feel that there's time to do both but am having trouble figuring out exactly how to do it. Is there a company that I could tour the mayan site in the morning until about 2 and then come back and go to one of the cayes to snorkel? Is there good snorkeling off the caye? I read that you can take a water taxi to them...

Thanks for any advice!

Check the water taxi times online- just google Belize Water Taxi and you should get a bunch of info. You should also check on sunrise/sunset times, because I don't think there would be any opportunity for any sort of tours going past say 4:00 due to sunset times.

The major Mayan ruins all include a bit of travel time from Belize City, and at least a 30-45 minute water taxi each way to the Cayes, so while in theory, it sounds like you should be able to do both a ruin and snorkel trip, but with the travel times you might not be able to squeeze them both in.

Once it gets dark in Belize City, stick to the Fort George neighborhood. No wandering around. I suggest drinks at the Raddison and a nice dinner at the Smoky Mermaid.
