Cruising the Carnival Holiday with the Kids

Hi Everyone,

Can anyone tell me if the Carnival Holiday has Camp Carnival? I can't really find any information on the Carnival website to confirm that. Also, if you have cruised the Holiday before, with or without kids, let me know what you think!

Thanks! :)

We sailed 12/17 on the Holiday, taking my son, daughter-in-law and two grandsons. They are ages 10 and 13. The 13 yo had a great time and we hardly saw him. He really responded to the group leader and the group as a whole seemed to bond quite well. The 10 yo did not get involved in his age group camp activities. I think it was partially because he is used to mixing with older children and some of the activities seemed a little juvenile for even a 10 yo. Just my opinion as a grandfather. LOL

I did not expect much of the cruise but was pleasantly surprised in several areas, disappointed in several others. I'll add my observations, though not on point for your question.

Positives: formal dining room food and service, cabin steward and general cleanliness of cabins and corridors, midnight dessert buffet and ice carvings were impressive works of culinary art, casino operations, overall staff courtesy, photography services

Negatives: buffet line food, 24-hour pizza was convenient but not very good, deck areas were crowded, 1st day and last morning the water in cabin was yellow for some reason, vague septic-tank odor, lack of hand disinfecting stations, PA system inaudible in cabins,

and my biggest complaint - when given the preliminary statement before the final night's meal, I found an envelope and a note saying that gratuities (which I always pay) did not include the maitre 'd. Why was his gratuity excluded from the customary gratuity? It just felt cheap and backhanded on Carnival's part and certainly left a bad impression of their operation.

For what it's worth - my impressions. Enjoy your cruise.

We did the Holiday a couple of years ago with DD who was 5 and DS who was 9 at the time. All of Carnival's ship have Camp Carnival, but the larger ships will, naturally, have larger kid's areas. Some of the smaller ships make use of the meeting rooms and other unused areas for kids' activities.

The Camp Carnival area, at least I know for those up to 5 years old, is a little hard to find, but they have a nice kids' pool and the always-present water slide.

My 9yo son didn't participate in the ship activities but hung out with the other kids who were teens who were in our group. Later he said that he was bored and wished that he had gone to Camp Carnival, at least some.
