Using Marriott Reward Points to book hotel in Ft. Lauderdale, Miami or Hollywood

I have read numerous recommendations about different hotels around Miami Port, especially by Bequia and I am forever thankful that this board exists because of all the info I have received so thanks to everyone.

My question is, I am currently booked at Marriott Hollywood Beach (1 day precruise) using my Marriott points but after reading numerous posts, I am not sure if this is what I want (possibly not much around). DH and I are 40ish with kids 11 & 13, looking for a hotel with a beach or near a beach with some shops and restaurants nearby but not interested in the nightlife of bars or clubs. We do not need it to be super quiet but generally a safe area with stuff nearby. I plan on renting a car, but want to go shopping and eat within walking distance of the hotel. I'm not sure if this hotel exists but with Marriott I can stay at a Courtyard, Renaissance, Springhill Suites, TownPlace (I think-I can't find my brochure). Will the Hollywood Beach location be okay or should I look into something else?

I leave in two weeks on the Freedom of the Seas but I am stressing out about the hotel!! Please help!

Freedom still sails from Miami, right? Right on the beach is Marriott South Beach on Ocean Drive. In Fort Lauderdale, try the new Courtyard on the Beach. Renaissance or Harbor Beach are also good choices, but not right on the beach. Ren is closest to lots of shopping and eats.

The hotel you've booked meets the criteria you've set for yourself.

Stay away from the Renaissance it's horrible! We left there on the 21st of December and moved to the new CY which was wonderful! Ren is not near the beach either. Careful when staying on points as point stays may not be available the closer you get to your date.

Enjoy Freedom!!
