aandb Posted January 7, 2008 #1 Share Posted January 7, 2008 Did anyone book air through RCCL and missed their connection? What happened? Did RCCL come through for you with any type of help? Is there anything you can do beforehand to make sure you can still make it to the ship on time? I'm interested in any stories you may have. Thanks
TEXASMUNK Posted January 7, 2008 #2 Share Posted January 7, 2008 It is one of the reasons folks buy through RCI. If they cannot get you to the port in time for sailing, they will assist with overnight and transport to the first available port of call. Get info here, but confirm with RCI before you dicide! gxchan Posted January 7, 2008 #3 Share Posted January 7, 2008 A pair (brother and sister) I met on Explorer in December were delayed flying into Newark (due to a storm) and missed boarding the ship. They purchased their air and insurance through RCI with their cruise. They were flown to the first port (St. Maarten) and put up an a hotel for two nights until the ship arrived. They said RCI was very good to deal with in getting the flights and hotel. The only "issues" was the hotel was lower end and the daily food allowance wasn't enough to cover their breakfast in St. Maarten let alone an entire day. Still they were very happy b/c everything was prepaid by RCI, as opposed to their having to pay out of pocket and be reimbursed. Hope this helps. wrp96 Posted January 7, 2008 #4 Share Posted January 7, 2008 If you miss your connection, while you are waiting in line to talk to the airline about getting yourself rebooked on another flight, call the RCCL day of travel number for help. It is a common fallacy that if you book your air through RCCL they will help you if you miss the ship. They will help you but you will be responsible for paying for the flights and hotels. A possible missed connection or missed cruise, especially when flying in day of cruise, is a very good reason to buy travel insurance.
