Tulum Snorkeling

I asked this over on Ports of Call but did not get any responses so I thought I would try here. I understand there is a beach at the Tulum ruins. Is there any snorkeling there that would warrant bringing my equipment? Thanks.

It was many years ago when we visited Tulum, so my info may no longer be valid.

When we were there, snorkling the Tulum beach was not an option.

When I was there a few years ago we did not even get in the water but there were quite a few people swimming. It looked like a fairly quick drop off and a little choppy. Could not hurt anything (and free!) to give it a try!
