Rockwife Posted January 8, 2008 #1 Share Posted January 8, 2008 Hi all, I enjoy a little snorkeling on each cruise and wondered if anyone can recommend a particular port or excursion for outstanding snorkeling. We're hitting Cabo, Maz, and PV. Thanks!

Desert star Posted January 9, 2008 #3 Share Posted January 9, 2008 I have never really heard of "great" snorkling on the Mexican Riviera, it is pretty cloudy so we didn't bother, but you might want to check again on the "ports of call" boards. Rockwife Posted January 9, 2008 Author #4 Share Posted January 9, 2008 Thanks Jerilyn. Cozumel wasn't the best, either, so maybe it's similar to that. I guess we could try parasailing, instead. Take care, Michele
iamtothemax Posted January 13, 2008 #5 Share Posted January 13, 2008 Hi, We all went out on the YAEL for a Snorkelling trip in Cabo. It was fantastic. I believe the website is www.cabosail.com and let the Captain know Maxine referred you. Enjoy. Maxine
Stevesan Posted January 13, 2008 #6 Share Posted January 13, 2008 Thanks Jerilyn. Cozumel wasn't the best, either, so maybe it's similar to that. I guess we could try parasailing, instead. Take care, Michele You must have been there on a really bad day. Coz is world class snorkeling and diving. Try It again. Just be sure it's a boat snorkel to the outer reefs such as Palancar, Columbuia and Punta Sur. The near shore reefs were destroyed by Hurricane Wilma, but the outer reefs suffered only minor damage. Yep, the seas were so rough all the morning excursions were canceled and our afternoon snorkel/sail/beach was only good for the sail/beach part. Still fun, though! sceneisle Posted January 14, 2008 #8 Share Posted January 14, 2008 Of the three ports you are visiting, Cabo, IMO is the best. The snorkeling excursion boats will either go to Playa Santa Maria or Bahia Chileno; both are located close to each other and can be accessed by vehicle (should you want to save some money). Snorkeling anywhere in the Mexican Riviera is not in the same league as the Caribbean or Hawaii, so to avoid disappointment, don't expect it to be. Since we live on the East coast it's much easier for us to get back to the Caribbean, so we might just save the snorkeling for another time. Maybe we'll just stick to whale-watching and other activities for the Mexican Riviera.
Andrea0908 Posted January 22, 2008 #10 Share Posted January 22, 2008 Rockwife, you are going to be disappointed in snorkeling in the Mex. Riv. We cruised to these ports on Pride last February. We snorkeled at Chileno Bay. Poor to average, to say the least. A guide patrolled the reefs in his dingy. If anyone came close to the reefs, he screamed at them. And, by close I mean 20 feet. You will not find better snorkeling than the caribbean. I felt the snorkeling in Cabo was a waste of time and money. Although, our excusion guides provided us with plenty of drinks, pole dancing, music and laughter. I would choose Lover's Beach over snorkeling in Cabo. JMO. Do not forget to bring your binoculars!
