MrPete Posted September 13, 2004 #4 Share Posted September 13, 2004 He was our Captain on Pride 8/29. I wonder if he was moved after the ABANDON SHIP incident?
Lefty1 Posted September 13, 2004 #5 Share Posted September 13, 2004 no he did not leave after incident on abandon ship - i was on miracle 8/21 - incident happened 8/20 - the reason he went to other ship 8/29 is because miracle had to be slightly repaired. once i got off ship, miracle sailed away empty to have repairs and then sailing out of baltimore - not sure if he will be joining her then
momofmeg Posted September 14, 2004 #6 Share Posted September 14, 2004 I used to know some Americans of Italian decent that that was their last name. They did not prounce their name the way he did though-they pronounced it Ja-lot-ti-but then too they spoke no Italian either as their family had been in the US for several generations. I thought it was neat though when I was on the Miracle and heard his name pronounced- I could not help but think that his American cousins had pronounced their name differently. That happens alot though I guess. I have friends whose last name is Guterriz from California-they know no spanish-don't even look hispanic as far as that goes-but prounounce their name very differently from most hispanics. INCHARGE Posted September 14, 2004 #8 Share Posted September 14, 2004 I finally found my Capers, and yes, Captain Gaetano Gigliotti was the captain on 9/5 Miracle from Baltimore. Sorry it took so long to find them.

SSSkipper Posted September 18, 2004 #12 Share Posted September 18, 2004 I was just on the Pride a week ago and thought he was our captain. I don't think I brought home any capers to verify but I know his last name was the same, maybe he had a different first name.
INCHARGE Posted September 18, 2004 #13 Share Posted September 18, 2004 Could there be two? I know for a fact that on the Miracle 9/5, his name was Captain Gaetano Gigliotti per the Capers. Maybe that is a common last name. It will be interesting if you find one of your Capers to verify. Brothers, perhaps? :)
morriscats Posted September 19, 2004 #14 Share Posted September 19, 2004 We were on the Pride 8/29 and I thought he was our Captain. Upon looking at a Capers, his name was Alessandro Galotto. Similar but not the same.
SSSkipper Posted September 19, 2004 #15 Share Posted September 19, 2004 morriscats, thanks for clearing that up! I didn't bring back any capers, but after you posted his name...I knew that was it. So similar, but not the same!:p
