Review of Mercury Cabin 9118

Just got back from the Australia/NZ Christmas/New Year's 2007 cruise: very fun! Thought I'd contribute a few notes on this cabin for future cruisers.

Overall, very good location, midship. Only 2 floors up to the pool deck and the buffet, and only 2 floors down to the show room.

Staterooms were located above, adjacent, and below (although Michael's Club may be directly below), so room was quiet. Had service corridor to one side and behind. This didn't bother us. Heard very faint noise from service elevator sometimes, near midnight. Sometimes we heard a faint rattling, but couldn't tell the source of it.

There was plenty of room for all of our stuff. Between my daughter and me, we had two large suitcases, a medium suitcase, and three carry-ons. We were able to stash our empty suitcases under the bed. The two nightstands each had two drawers. The desk has 3 drawers on either side of its chair. Behind the desk's vanity mirror was the safe plus 2-3 shelves for storage.

The closets had 4 doors. Behind 2 was a rod for hanging full length items. Behind another was a rod for hanging half-length items plus there were three drawers. Behind the fourth were 3 shelves plus 3 drawers. There was a shelf at the very top of each for lifejackets and extra bedding, but there was room for our extra stuff there, too.

The bathroom had 2 shelves under the sink and two by the mirror.

There was a cubby above the TV, too.

On one wall, there were two coat-hooks. The bathroom door had 4 hooks.

We didn't need (and didn't bring) an over-door shoe holder for extra stuff. We did bring and needed extra hangers. I think there was a total of about 15 there, but that was not enough for us.

A nightlight was included in the room, plugged into the outlet above the desk. We made use of this, as this was an inside cabin. We did get light in from under the door to the corridor, too.

Only had 1 outlet, so we were glad we brought a 3-in-one plug adapter.

The room, beds, and furnishings were in very good condition, I thought. The exception was the TV; the colors were all mixed up (blues were red, and reds were green). I heard other TVs were like this too.

There was no clock in the room except the time shown on the phone. We brought and used our own little digital clock.

There was only 1 bar of soap provided, and we used that for the shower. We had brought another, and used it at the sink.

Happy Cruising!
