FlyingGirl Posted January 8, 2008 #1 Share Posted January 8, 2008 Does Carnival offer transportation to and from the port from IAH-Intercontinental airport? If you didn't use Carnivals own any recommendations for other companies?
dcwms Posted January 9, 2008 #2 Share Posted January 9, 2008 You can purchase transfers from Carnival. To me the down side of their transfers is when going from the airport to the ship we had a long wait. Our plane landed around noon we were on the shuttle bus by 12:30 and by the time we drove around Houston to pick up some more people, wait for another bus that had people that was getting on our bus. It seemed to take forever. I think it was around 3:00 when we made it to the ship. Then when it was time to leave we had to sit and wait for the bus to fill up before they would take us to the airport. And they wouldn't leave until every seat was filled. I've only been on 1 cruise so maybe all transfers are like my experience, but from my one and only experience I would avoid the transfers if at all possible. If you go to the Gulf Coast Departures you can find other options from getting to IAH to the ship. Sharon
FlyingGirl Posted January 9, 2008 Author #3 Share Posted January 9, 2008 Thats what was afraid of. I think we are going to go with our own transportation for that reason. Since we are first time cruisers I'm sure we will be anxious to be on the ship as soon as we can.
slkmbz Posted February 3, 2008 #4 Share Posted February 3, 2008 We've done it both ways - through the ship and on our own. Frankly, doing it on your own only saves you about an hour. And that hour to me was a pro/con equal. Pro - yes you get on the ship quicker because you have an hour more. Con - it's all on you. If there is an issue with the return - you have to make arrangements and that is not always the easiest to change because of the communications. Last fall we were on the ship that was delayed 18 hours due to a tropical storm. I'm very glad we were on the ship's transportation because we didn't have to do a thing. It's a personal preference and either way has it's benefits. For me it comes down to the level of hassle or stress/ Have a great cruise!
SaturnMom Posted February 4, 2008 #5 Share Posted February 4, 2008 FlyingGirl, My brother and his wife are trying to arrange their own transportation too. I checked the price for limo service, for just 2 of them, it will cost about $140 for one way. Their flight arrived at 5pm, Sunday. How about yours? yogachick Posted February 15, 2008 #6 Share Posted February 15, 2008 what about flying in to HOBBY? We will be flying SW from OKC and they dont fly into Houston International? And I noticed Carnivals tranfers are only to and from International?
FlyingGirl Posted February 15, 2008 Author #7 Share Posted February 15, 2008 From what I found out you need to provide your own transportation from HOU airport ie: taxi, limo service etc. Its a lot closer to the port than Intercontinental
