malony33 Posted September 13, 2004 #1 Share Posted September 13, 2004 We're doing a 1-nt. pre-cruise in Barbados in early December, and we're looking for a nice, clean, reliable hotel on the beach bet. the airport in Bridgetown(where the ship is docked). Some problems: The upscale resorts - which are more than we need, really - are priced for Donald Trump! The small inns are either run-down or lack even basic amenities, like AC! Some of the nice and somewhat affordable hotels have a 3 - 4 nt. minimum stay. The hotels that fit our "profile" - beach, pretty grounds, still affordable(less than $200/nt.) look and sound great. Reviews on Trip advisor.com are always mixed, though. For any one property, one writer says " gorgeous room", the other, "dirty, dated, in need of repair". For another, "pretty and clean", then we read, "We awoke to cockroaches all over, inc. on our bedspread!". Please help; rooms are going fast. Thanks, Barbara :)
mcboo Posted September 13, 2004 #2 Share Posted September 13, 2004 Maloney33, You may want to take a look at the South Beach Resort. www.southbeachbarbados.com It is a non-smoking resort. So if you don''t smoke it may be what you are looking for. Hope this helps, mcboo
malony33 Posted September 13, 2004 Author #3 Share Posted September 13, 2004 Thanks, McBoo! I just spent some time on their website; the resort seems to be exactly what we're looking for, and it's in the right location (bet. airport and cruiseport). I really appreciate your reply.
