Sun-n-Fun Posted January 9, 2008 #1 Share Posted January 9, 2008 Has anyone who has recently cruised, found that the embarkation is more difficult now that Voyager of the Seas is docking there as well? I have been wondering if it would be impacted with the addition of a few more thousand people at the cruise terminal. Just curious as to whether or not we should get down there earlier than planned. yst347 Posted January 9, 2008 #2 Share Posted January 9, 2008 The major impact is with the automobile traffic. The two ships use separate buildings for boarding but share the same access road, which is a zoo with just one ship. I think you can also expect more crowding at the parking lots like EZ-cruise and Lighthouse.

FlyingGirl Posted January 9, 2008 #5 Share Posted January 9, 2008 Ok thanks. I'm new to the board and just trying to get a feel for how long its going to take us. We are leaving on a Monday. Is there any other ship that would embark with us? We're on Ecstasy
yst347 Posted January 9, 2008 #6 Share Posted January 9, 2008 Nope, at the present time only Conquest, Voyager and Ectasy are sailing from Galveston.
Sun-n-Fun Posted January 10, 2008 Author #7 Share Posted January 10, 2008 Thanks - I was down there yesterday for a meeting and realized there were two terminals. I think we'll head down earlier than normal just in case.
maxamuus Posted January 10, 2008 #8 Share Posted January 10, 2008 Didnt i read somewhere that RCL is going to be moving to the new Houston port that they are just finishing up?

I doubt you read anything other than speculation. According to the Bayport people, no cruise line has agreed to sail from there at this time. Not to mention the impact on hotel room availability at a decent price.
CrazieNCruisingGypsy2 Posted January 10, 2008 #11 Share Posted January 10, 2008 Isn't the Voyager changing itineraries at the end of April? If so, what would take her place?
yst347 Posted January 10, 2008 #12 Share Posted January 10, 2008 Nothing is taking Voyager's place. RCCI is only committed to winter sailings from Galveston for the time being. Perhaps RCCI is angling for a sweet deal in Bayport before they bring a year-round ship back to Texas but nothing has been inked yet, it's all just speculation.
