BlasterDave Posted January 10, 2008 #1 Share Posted January 10, 2008 I just saw on the local Houston news this evening that beginning on February 1st the State Dept will start to take applications for Passport cards. Check it out here at http://www.khou.com/topstories/stories/khou080110_jj_passportcards.c55c9cf.html The good news about this is that they will only cost $45.00 instead of the usual $97.00. JessicaRN Posted January 11, 2008 #2 Share Posted January 11, 2008 Seems to me like you'd still be better off just having the passport, especially if you already have one. - Jess
terrib1964 Posted January 11, 2008 #3 Share Posted January 11, 2008 It's a great alternative for those of us who do NOT have a passport yet, and really only intend to travel within the americas any time in the near future. Cruising is my new passion, and there is a whole lot more of the Caribbean that I want to see before I'll be willing to spend the money to venture overseas,. Not to mention that I have a 10 year old and if I were to spend the money on her passport, it would expire in 5 years. So I think that if this passport card goes into effect in time for my next cruise...I will be getting one for myself and my daughter. Much more convenient, practical, and cheaper...at least in my circumstances. Thanks for the info OP!
bgbaird Posted January 11, 2008 #4 Share Posted January 11, 2008 There's always the possibility of getting stuck somewhere and having to fly back.........
