2nd visit to dominica - what can we do??

We have visited Dominica before and taken in the usual sights with an island tour.

 

We are due to visit in April and have nothing booked - can anyone suggest anything that isn't the usual (Trafalgar falls, emerald pool, botanical gardens, titou gorge, chapmagne reef)?? Beaches might be an idea but seems all the good ones are NE of the island and not sure about distance/time/cost for taxi??

 

Any help ideas appreciated - ideally looking to do independent rather than ships tour
