Oh no, I actually was replying to the original post. When I posted, I realized this thread was like 130 pages long! Holy Moly! That's when I thought that the topic may have shifted from the original one. I wasn't referring to kids...just that I was amazed that there are questions pertaining to the AOS and if there were more "Puerto Ricans" onboard than other ports. That's all. I wasn't dissing Robyn, just the people she was referring to.

I don't buy it....anyway, when you come on these boards sporatically (lasts posts were in 2006!!!) you should be a bit more careful before you begin your flaming posts. This thread has been drama-free and very useful for some time, I hope it stays that way.

Don't worry, our thread will remain drama free :D

I go away for a few days and look what happens! LOL :p:p

The PEOPLE I am referring to, are the wonderful people of Puerto Rico. If you read through all of the pages of this long standing and popular thread on the AOS, you will clearly see that not only am I a huge fan of the ship itself, but also of the fabulous people who live in Puerto Rico :)

I am flying into San Juan the day we are sailing. My flight arrives in San Juan around 2:20PM. Does anyone see any issues with arriving in San Juan at 2:20PM in the afternoon? What time are passengers required to be on board the ship for an 8:30PM sailing. I booked my own flight but booked transfers directly through RCCL.

I'm pretty sure the cutoff is 90 minutes. 2:20 should give you enough time barring unforseen weather or mechanical issues.

You should be fine getting to the pier if you land at 2:20pm. My only suggestion would be to ditch the RCCL transfers and just get a cab. DH and I did that when we sailed on Celebrity. The lines at the airport were so long waiting for the transfer bus. We ditched the transfer and got a cab and were on board the ship about 1 1/2 hours before the people we were standing in line with started to board! That all being said, RCCL may be more effecient but I wanted to let you know our experience.

Thanks!

We stayed at the Marriott Fallsview - got a lovely upgrade to a 2 room suite on the 22nd floor :)

I came out even at the casino - could have been a lot worse, but I won a small jackpot as I was about to leave that gave me all my money back! :o

We got that upgrade when we stayed there in December. Aren't those rooms magnificent? Gas fireplace, jacuzzi for 2 with a view of the falls....oh my! They wouldn't upgrade us this time (apparently my status expired at the end of the year) but we still had a great time. Congrats on the casino, any break even is a win as far as I'm concerned! I did a little better, brought home $165 and a big smile!!

I achieved Silver Elite with Marriott a few years ago and loved the perks, so when the opportunity to get the Marriott Rewards Visa card presented itself - I jumped at it because it would mean automatic Silver Elite status as long as I had the card :D So I am permanently Silver Elite ;)

Yes - the view was magnificent!

How are things with you? When are you setting sail again?

We're doing great thanks! DW is over her morning sickness and everything is going fine with the pregnancy. :) My mom and I are going on the Serenade in May, (We're not cheating on the AOS are we, since she will be in Europe?) DW and her sister will have a "staycation," she gave us her blessing to go without her. It will be great to get back to San Juan and the southern Caribbean, it's been 2 years!

Glad to hear DW is feeling good now - morning sickness is no picnic - but of course the end result is SO worth it! :D

Since the AOS will be in Europe - then it is not technically cheating ;) I am tempted at times to try the Serenade, so maybe I will have to do what you are doing to ease my conscience!!! LOL

Nothing beats the southern Caribbean!!! :p

Hi Robyn

Fellow Canadian here, we live in Meaford north of you.

We are booking the AOS for DH, oldest son and DIL for their honeymoon Feb 20 and 27 next year. The kids will be with us the first week only.

I will gradually read through this entire thread, but I am at the office (should be working of course) and trying to figure out which cabins to book on deck 7 on the hump. Someone suggested more to the middle, I had reserved 7312. We will book an inside for the kids - 7641 is the one that I reserved.

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Anyone else with ideas would be great as well. We have been on Serenade, but the memory of our cabin being flooded in 2008 has stuck with us. It was handled very poorly and the crew was not the greatest on that particular journey, although our first experience the year before on Serenade was fantastic. It all hinges on the crew.

Thanks in advance!

Dee

Hi Dee :)

7312 is an excellent choice - it is right on the hump, and the inside you chose is also good as it is mid-ship. If you are concerned about motion, then mid-ship is the right spot for you, and it is also close to the elevators which is a nice perk.

I am sailing on a B2B in just over 2 weeks ( it will be my 7th and 8th time on the AOS) so if you have any questions, please feel free to post them here as I check this thread often. We also have many others who have sailed the AOS multiple times and are a wealth of knowledge - so if I don't answer you right away, someone else will for sure!

Hi Robyn

Thanks so much for your help. Another poster suggested that 7318 or 7320 would be a better choice as they are in the middle. Do you or any of your fellow cruisers know if the balcony is any larger on any of the hump cabins? We are just off the Indy and had 7340, our balcony was bigger than those beside us and we had a lounge and also 2 chairs and a little table. I know that the cabin on Indy was also bigger than on AOS. We really like hump cabins on 6 or 7, it makes life soooo much easier to get around.

This will be the first cruise for our son and DIL. This is their wedding gift, we would love to put them in a balcony as well, but we know darn well, well at least my DH knows that mommy and daddy will foot the bill for many things while they are with us, so since we are helping with the wedding and still have another son who will hopefully start his PHD in Sept this year, an inside it is! They are just so excited, I wish we could swing taking all of the kids with us, but we will have to wait a bit for that.

On Indy we went to Sorentos for mousse and coffee every day, sometimes pizza as well. I have a 3 per day mousse habit now:eek: thanks to my husband. Is it available in the cafe in the promenade on AOS? Just think a whole new ship to get used to, why do all of the worst things happen to us eh:D

I'm going to try to book the cabins today when boss man goes for lunch and I should be working:rolleyes:

Thanks again

Dee

What a fabulous wedding gift! I'm sure the kids will love it regardless of the cabin they are in - it's a cruise and it's paid for by parents so what could be wrong with that?

7318 and 7320 are middle hump cabins - they will give you a better view than cabins at the end of the hump, so if either is available - grab it. Insofar as size is concerned, I have no idea if they are bigger than other same category cabins on the hump...maybe someone else can answer that?

Isn't Sorrento's the BEST???? I was on the Freedom this past August and had my first experience with Sorrento's and loved it. The antipasto bar was amazing - especially the little garlic crostini's :D The AOS has the cafe promenade - but sadly no antipasto bar :( I don't know about the mousse.....I assume you are referring to some kind of dessert?

Where is Meaford? I know that sounds awful since I am in Ontario - but I am originally from the east coast! :)
