hubby likes anchovy pizza...what are his chances of getting this on this ship??? Carnival has it and he has been spoiled by getting this particular kind of pizza ALOT on those cruises....

Don't think I have seen anchovies on the pizza at the cafe promenade. They just had the usual kinds- cheese, pepperoni, sausage, etc. I loved it. We usually have late dining, and a slice of pizza around 4 or 5 helps tide over until dinner. If they have the ingredients, they probably would make you whatever kind you wanted, though.

The Promenade Cafe is open 24 hours a day and you can take the pizza to go anywhere you want. Lots of times we will stop by the cafe on the way back to the room at night and pick up a snack to go.

 

I don't think I have ever seen Anchovy pizza, but am not positive. Bring some paste with you.:p

I can confirm that there are no anchovies on the pizza in the Cafe Promenade :rolleyes: In fact, I didn't see anchovies anywhere except in Portofino where they ask if you would like them mixed in with your caesar salad dressing.....

Marsha - you can always bring along your own little jar of anchovies and DH can add it to the pizza :)

We are going on AOS on the 13th and we will be arriving in SJ at 9:30 AM. Since we will get to the port early I was wondering if they have a diamond embarcation lounge?

I think this thread is long overdue.

 

Each week I see at least 2-3 posts regarding the Adventure of the Seas, people who have booked and are now afraid they made a mistake - and people who have yet to book, that may not ever book because of what they read on here.

 

As many of you know, I have cruised on the AOS 3 times and have had wonderful cruise vacations on all 3. I am sailing again next month on my 2nd B2B on the AOS and I am eagerly anticipating another fantastic cruise! :)

 

Here are a few commonly asked questions about the AOS:

 

Q: Does the AOS have a large amount of Puerto Ricans sailing on her for most cruises?

A: Yes, there are Puerto Rican's on cruises out of San Juan. It is their home port and I would be very surprised if they weren't.

Q: Are the announcements in Spanish as well as English?

A: Yes they are. Is it an issue? No.

Q: Are Puerto Ricans rude and rowdy?

A: No more rude and rowdy than other passengers I have seen on other ships and other itineraries. Puerto Ricans are a lively bunch :)

Q: Is the AOS a sick ship, or more prone to Noro than other ships?

A: No. The AOS has as much chance of a noro outbreak as any other ship in the RCI fleet.

Q: I have booked the AOS and after reading negative reviews, I want to cancel - what should I do?

A: You can cancel you cruise if you want, but you will be missing out on a fantastic cruise on a great ship sailing on a wonderful itinerary!

 

I do understand that some people have had negative experiences on the AOS - but the same can be said for any other ship. There will always be people cutting in line, pushing elevator buttons, chair hogging and the list goes on......unfortunately, some people like to leave their manners at home :(

 

My experiences have been terrific on the AOS and I would encourage anyone to sail on her and see for themselves what a great ship she is!!

We are flying in to San Juan the day before. BTW we live in Oshawa so not far from you :)

Have you stayed in San Juan before? We are booked at the Marriott San Juan Resort & Stellaris Casino.

Just wondering if you could give me a few tips

One have you stayed at this resort before? if yes do you know how much the resort fees are and can you refuse the resort fee? anyone done this and got away with it? I doubt very much that we will be using the hotels facilities too much so I don't really want to have to pay this if I don't have too ;)

 

Also I understand I can take a taxi from the airport for about 14.00 to the hotel [not bad] but for the morning that we have to board the ship how much will a taxi be then? We are boarding the RCCI Adventures of the Sea - Sept 28 2008 [Pan am Pier I think?]

 

Any tips on when we should leave for the ship? I hear if you leave the hotel around 11:30 we should be able to get on the ship not too long after. Can we then leave our bags and head into Old San Juan to do some shopping before having to be back on the ship for the muster drill at 6pm?

Do we have to take another cab from the pier?

Sorry but I have only been in San Juan as a port and it was on a Carnival ship pier is right in Old San Juan but I really want to walk around and do some shopping [gotta hit the Coach Outlet store for sure :D ]

 

Any tips or suggestions would be appreciated.

Even though we sailed on the Serenade it still is at Pan AM pier. We left the hotel about 10:30-10:45 - way too early I think - we were the first ones on the ship- I would not do this again. We spent time in the Schooner lounge reading and then went up and played mini golf, then had lunch all before our cabin was ready!!! (Mind you this whole time we were dragging around our carryons!!)

 

Here is what we are going to do this time- leave our bags at the hotel and take a taxi to Old SJ and tour for a couple hours AM- then go back to hotel and pick up our bags around 2:00 and go to the pier.

 

Have a super cruise. We got our docs yesterday so I am totally pumped for our trip!:D

I am so excited that you booked the AOS!!! You are in for an amazing time :)

 

I have been to the Coach outlet in San Juan and it is well worth the trip ;) They also have a Dooney and Bourke outlet as well.

 

With regard to what time you can have access to your cabin - it is 1:00pm. Until then you will have to keep your carry on with you.

The cab price will depend on where you are staying. You could also take the bus to Old San Juan and then grab a cab back. I haven't taken the bus before but others have, with no problem. I will need to check and see if they are running Sunday Am though- if not it will be a cab for us both ways!

Early dining is at 6pm for the whole cruise with the exception of the first night when it is at 6:30pm because of the Muster Drill.

Keep an eye on your watches that first night, dinner service should be ending in time to watch sailaway, but if your waiters are dogging it, let them know you want to be on deck to see the ship leave. Sailaway from San Juan at night is arguably the best in the business! You just can't beat the forts and walls of OSJ all lit up! (If you listen and look closely you can hear the main engines starting up while you are in the dinning room, you will also see the main chandelier dim each time they start one. Did you know that chandelier cost $700,000? Capt. Nyseter told us that last year.)
