Ft Z. Taylor, Cost & other ?'s

My husband and I will be renting Trikes (adult sized tricycles) next month. I would love to go to the Fort and take some pictuers. What is the cost for us to ride our trikes in/around Ft Zachary?

 

Is it easy to ride around or do we have to walk?

 

Are there bike racks there to park/lock our trikes up if we wanted to go to the beach?

I believe the park is $1.50 to get in. If you lock your bikes together they'd be very difficult to steal, you would take up a lot of space at a bike rack.

I'm so glad you want to visit my beloved Fort Zachary Taylor State Park. Once you get into the park itself, you may have to walk some of the paths because parts are kind of stony or sandy and biking might be hard because you can bog down. I think there are bike racks near the parking area of the concession stand.

 

At the fort itself, you might be able to bike in the courtyard, but you'll have to climb stairs to get up on the roof. By the way, there is no additional cost to tour the fort and the view from the roof is a pleasure.

Thanks everyone! I am really looking forward to visiting the Fort. I am a photographer and I know there will some great photo ops there. Plus, I LOVE history and old things. I also plan to check out the beach while we are there. I don't mind walking there, I just wanted to ride in and be able to park somewhere. I would LOVE to be able to climb the fort. That sounds like so much fun!!!
