Will we need to arrange a pickup time from our driver, or will there be cabs waiting and available when we leave? don't want to get stuck there! haha.... paul58 Posted January 24, 2008 #4 Share Posted January 24, 2008 Arrange to have your taxi pick you up at a set time. Some will wait until your return trip to get paid.
MLYLKY Posted February 1, 2008 #5 Share Posted February 1, 2008 You Can Take A Water Taxi From The Pier To Frigate Bay. It Is Cheaper And Faster. It Was $10 A Person Round Trip. Just Tell Them What Time You Want Them To Pick You Up.
Trekker954 Posted March 9, 2008 #6 Share Posted March 9, 2008 is it true that the vendors drive you crazy at so.frigate bay? does anyone know if there is a private resort, cruisers can pay and go to. i.e. hotels, etc.
jakedoc Posted March 12, 2008 #7 Share Posted March 12, 2008 We were there last week and ran into maybe 5 vendors. A firm, polite No Thank You works well. We also took the water taxi. Boats ran about every 45 minutes. Trip takes approximately 15 minutes. $10.00/person roundtrip. We couldn't believe the changes since our last visit about 4 years ago. The beach back then had about 3 bar shacks and no developement on the hills. Now there are about 12 bars and 1 small resort with numerous homes on the hills. michalanajon Posted March 31, 2008 #8 Share Posted March 31, 2008 How do you rate Frigate Beach? Is it beautiful? Would you choose another? How crowded was it when you were there? We leave in three weeks, so thought I'd ask!
NoNoNanette Posted April 12, 2008 #9 Share Posted April 12, 2008 How do you rate Frigate Beach? Is it beautiful? Would you choose another? How crowded was it when you were there? We leave in three weeks, so thought I'd ask! I'd love to hear more about this beach, as well. :) I was fairly certain that I was heading to Cockleshell Beach, but the water taxi sounds fun. How were the prices? (Cold beer and a burger) ;) Water clarity? Thanks for any feedback! MICHALANAJON: Have a blast, and report back, wherever you end up, OK? :)
michalanajon Posted April 13, 2008 #10 Share Posted April 13, 2008 OK Nanette: I'll do that! And by the way...you were the one who led us to Spencer Ambrose. We will be with him in a little over a week. Thanks for your input! I'm sure he will be wonderful!
phinfan63 Posted April 21, 2008 #11 Share Posted April 21, 2008 We also took the water taxi. Boats ran about every 45 minutes. Trip takes approximately 15 minutes. $10.00/person roundtrip. There will be 6 of us so how does that compare with taking a regular taxi? Also, does anyone know how far it is from the port? Thanks!

We leave in three weeks, so thought I'd ask! Starting my research for our December cruise and I am curious of the answers to these questions as well. About how much was it to rent chairs/umbrellas and how were the food/drinks as well. Is it a nice beach or are there other better beaches with the same costs and amenities? Any help would be super! Thanks....;)

Thanks....;) We have been to Frigate beach and was alright. Lots of little bars and venders were a pain. They had to escort one off the beach as he was getting pushy with everyone. Not sure if the Marriot still does day rental but here is the link with pics. We may end up at the Marriot on our cruise in January also. http://www.marriott.com/hotels/hotel-photos/skbrb-st-kitts-marriott-resort-and-the-royal-beach-casino/

magic cap Posted September 16, 2008 #15 Share Posted September 16, 2008 i can't believe this was three years ago! this is frigate bay. and beach. this was probably the most laid back, simple and quaint beach we had on our cruise. for the really laid back, this was "heavy surf".... see the guy in the wave just behind the wife? no motion, no movement, and no pressure. we had a GREAT four hours here. i think the cab ride was 10 bucks each way. the cabbie was back at agreed upon time, (looking for the other 10 bucks i guess) and the swim was great. the rocks around the left edge (in the distance) were just over standing height. the fish were small, beautiful and quick. we had a nice day. the more adventurous snorklers went around the other side of the jetty. i went around there and found rock piles, and some deep water. i swam back to "safe" territory. further down the beach was the "water taxi" spot. they had a more upscale hang out, with a beach shack, and the kids (paid) used a 'beach water bouncing tube trampoline thing' which was out in the water a ways. we found a guy who rented us a pair of beach chairs and an umbrella for 5 bucks. (it was worth it) the beach was only about 20 ft from trees to water. there was a formal beach bar at the left end of the beach. they had bathrooms, snacks, and drinks there. i dont recall them being expensive. i did buy a six pack of beer when we went back to the ship, i just didn't think of buying a six pack (or two) and a cooler and ice on the way there. you could probably ask the cabbie for such info. i just wasnt thinking that far ahead! if i recall correctly the orange juice rum drinks were 2 or 3 bucks. water was a buck and beer was two bucks. Sugar*Magnolia Posted October 15, 2008 #18 Share Posted October 15, 2008 We were at Frigate bay south....december 2007. We thought the sand looked like the sand in the northeast (ie: jersey shore or NY beaches) nothing special, it was not soft white sand underfoot. It was dark and not nice. We didnt see many beach bars at all, as for vendors, there was a lady sitting braiding hair, young guys walked around with aloe trying to give massages.....trying= they didnt ask, they just came up and started touching you (NOT ME, but Friends of ours) None of us thought it was funny (well actually we did, lol but it wasnt. it was rude and icky and he didnt take No Thank You for an answer) Made for good pics and funny memories. The food.....not memorable and I dont even think there were drinks to be had anywhere. All in all, if we didnt have the greatest crowd of people with us it would have been absolujtly horrible. The best was the kids went jet skiing- no tour, we went out on our own w/ them giving us an idea of where we had to stay..... We hope to go to Cockleshell beach this Dec!
