There is much of your answer here. CCL also has "Past Guest Cruises" [with special rates]. Not every cruise, though:

From your second until your 10th, you are gold status which qualifies you for free upgrades or discounts. After your 10th you're platinum status and that, in addition to the discount/upgrade grants you VIP status so you get preference during embarkation and debarkation. Also, on cruises of 5 days or longer, there is a past guest party for all previous cruisers where they offer free drinks and finger food. You will be left an invitation for each past guest along with a ship pin in your cabin on the night before the party. The neatest thing (although no financial benefit) is when you board with your gold or platinum card and the crew tell you "welcome back" or "welcome home".

Carnival does offer past guest savings on selected sailings. I have also rec'd coupons in the mail with their magazine for 2-3 cat upgrades.

 

They also have a cocktail party where you watch a film about Carnival, same film each time but you get free drinks and a lapel pin with the ship name on it.

 

If you have the Ocean Players Casino card you can email/call them that you will be sailing again and they will have various perks in your room depending on the points that you have accumulated during your past sailings. I also saw today that if you have 1000 points on your card they will give you a $50 OBC for bringing a friend along....
