silly towel question

I know this seems like a silly question. But do I need to bring towels from home if I am going to do my own beach excursions in port??

I know Carnival lets you take the towels off the ship as long as you bring them back. Travel light, no not bring extra towels from home.

It is correct that you can take Carnival beach towels on your shore excursions. However, if they are not returned to the ship you are charged $22. We brought our own towels and didn't have to worry about the Carnival ones getting lost or stolen.

What about Royal Caribbean? As a family of 5, we sure don't need extra luggage to tote towels. But, if we need to...

Why not buy towels going to the beach? Would that not be a great way to remember part of the vacation? Wash and dry on the ship and take them home, using them to line suitcases. (saves space)

I usually take my own. We buy some of the cheap thin ones you get at Walmart. The ones on the ship are heavier and bigger and just take up so much room in our beach bag. Then we use the towels for wrapping our booze that we buy and take home;)

You will have to bring one of your cruise ship towels to the beach BUT MAKE SURE you bring it back or you will be charged maybe as much as $25 for the towel. Another thing you might want to do is take a towel from the ship's pool area to the beach so that just in case you forget it or lose it, you won't be charged.
