Pay-as-you-Go Cell Phones and SIM Cards in Ports

I just read in another post that TracPhones might work for a short time. Has anyone had any experience with other pay-as-you-go plans?

I have both pre and post-paid T-Mobile and a pre-paid Virgin Mobile. I learned my lesson with AT&T in Mexico - the per minute rate didn't hurt, the taxes did!

Has anyone purchased a one-time use SIM card in the Bahamas, specifically Nassau, that can be used to call the US in an unlocked phone? If so, what was the cost and how many minutes did it allow?
