Sea Island Lady Posted January 19, 2008 #1 Share Posted January 19, 2008 I just noticed that the last two CC cabins on the Vista deck are available for my sailing and am thinking about that slightly larger balcony, with a side and aft view. :) I know there has been talk of vibration near the aft, but what other reasons would this not be a good move? What are good advantages? We currently have reservations in the forward area (9046) - near the forward stairs and elevators. No other cabins are available in our area, yet there are about 9 cabins toward the aft that have opened up. *** Just realized that there would be a privacy issue with the public deck above and the balcony below this cabin. :(

We normally take forward cabins but thought a short cruise would be an opportunity to try Aft. Plus, the balcony looks larger based on pictures someone posted. There is a public deck above? I thought there were cabins on Deck 10? Also, someone just posted that the port side of the ship is designated smoking? I am not sure how that will affect port side cabins. It will affect all if smoking is allowed in all cabins and balconys. I never thought about this, but if you are in an Aft cabin you are more likley to get others smoke while the ship is moving, so that is an advantage to be as far forward as possible. Sea Island Lady Posted January 19, 2008 Author #3 Share Posted January 19, 2008 Here are great photos posted by mahdnc a little while ago. Looks like there is little privacy at all! http://www.cruisemates.com/gallery/image.php?id=55457 http://travel.webshots.com/photo/2755739890047479972oQCNWi Our forward cabin will be the third from the front and on the Starboard. There is also no balcony below us. Good point about the smoke. Think we will keep our assignment. http://travel.webshots.com/photo/2795711700047479972tUbVSo That was a quick decision...thanks! I guess I have a different opinion. The part where the table is located is covered, so it is partly covered and partly not. The only time we would ever use the balcony would be for breakfast. I doubt anyone would be that interested in watching us at 6:00am in the morning. Besides, I consider an end more private than being sandwiched between two other balconys. Do you really think it is that private with the partitions?
Sea Island Lady Posted January 19, 2008 Author #5 Share Posted January 19, 2008 Sorry! Took a movie break and went to the The Bucket List. :D We use our balcony for breakfast, arriving into port, afternoon cocktails and perhaps a quick look at the ocean before bed. The only privacy I want is from any peering eyes. I want to be able to walk out in my bathrobe and not be seen. That end balcony has a direct view from the Sunset Bar and breakfast area. I imagine you will also hear people eating and talking out there, too. Maybe I am wrong, though. Enjoy! ;)
wdh Posted January 23, 2008 #6 Share Posted January 23, 2008 Wouldn't reccomend the aft cabins. The vibration coming into port will wake you every morning around 5 a.m. It is horrible. There is no privacy on your balcony. You will have ashes on your chairs in the mornings and cigarette butts on your balcony. We would not do the Century Suite again...for this very reason. Hope this helps. Take the forward cabin.

Would a cabin on the side get ashes? Gross. I didn't realize until recently that Celebrity allows smoking in the cabins. I always assumed cruiselines did not allow smoking in their cabins for safety reasons.
Sea Island Lady Posted January 23, 2008 Author #8 Share Posted January 23, 2008 Jade - I do not think that those side CC would get ashes from the bar, unless the ship was standing still and there was no wind. ;) The wind would shift the ashes toward the aft of the ship.
