thecleave Posted April 11, 2004 #1 Share Posted April 11, 2004 Spleen, Sweet Emi, SueBee...any thoughts on the Lahaina Grill? Looking for someplace special to celebrate our 5th wedding anniversary our first night on Maui. Thanks! ahibunny Posted April 11, 2004 #2 Share Posted April 11, 2004 We've only been to Lahaina Grill once and that was years ago. From what I remember, the appetizers were great, entrees OK. Longhi's should be good, too. Do you have your heart set on eating in Lahaina or would you mind driving? There's been mention of Mama's Fish House in Paia before. The food is amazing although pricey. Roy's and Nicolina's in Kahana, Sansei in Kapalua are also some choices. Unfortunately, Anuenue Room at the Ritz Carlton in Kapalua would have been a wonderful option as well, but they closed for business. I'm blanking on other places, but I'm sure other people can chime in. spleen93 Posted April 11, 2004 #3 Share Posted April 11, 2004 Adding onto what my wife mentioned, Vino which is D.K. Kodama's new restaurant in Kapalua is supposedly very nice. I've also heard good things about Gerard's in Lahaina which should be nice and romantic. Chez Paul in Olowalu is a good French restaurant which would be romantic. We've also eaten at Spago's in the Four Seasons Wailea which was excellent but you can get Spago's on the mainland as well so not sure if that's an option that you would want to look at. Nick's Fishmarket in the Fairmont Kea Lani Hotel was also pretty good. But honestly, if I had to pick one restaurant to eat at for an anniversary or special occasion on Maui, given that Anuenue Room is no more, I would go with Mama's Fish House in Paia if you don't mind driving. Great atmosphere and the food can't be beat. It's one of a kind! thecleave Posted April 12, 2004 Author #4 Share Posted April 12, 2004 Thank you both so much! No, we don't mind driving at all. I've heard good things about Mama's Fish House, and it was on our list for sometime during the week anyway. Might as well make it for our anniversary! We probably will go to Spago too, since we don't get to LA very often. I have a feeling our condo isn't going to get much use at dinner time! paulfredo Posted April 12, 2004 #5 Share Posted April 12, 2004 If you don't mind the drive and the expense, I'm with the others in recommending Mama's. David Paul's was good, but it wouldn't be in my top 10. paul
