Kathyh1313 Posted January 22, 2008 #2 Share Posted January 22, 2008 Hi Debbie, I was on the Volendam Jan 2-12. Half Moon Cay was cancelled. We were informed by the Captain the first night on board. Florida had particularly cold and windy weather as did the Bahamas. The Captain decided to cancel HMC that night and not wait until morning. The sea would have been too rough to tender to HMC and it was waaayyyy too cold for a beach day. Instead we headed directly to Aruba so we arrived early at 7am instead of our scheduled 12noon time. The Canal Experience via ferry was also cancelled. We arrived and began to proceed through the Gatun Locks as scheduled. However, the process seemed to take longer than expected. We arrived late to Gatun Lake and then local authorities delayed clearing the ship thus delaying shore excursions. The announcement was made that due to the late clearance and the long length of the excursion the Canal Experience was cancelled. The shorex staff was opening up other excursions to those affected. I have heard, but do not know for a fact, that the Canal experience excursion has been cancelled for remaining sailings. Happy cruising, Kathy
