Skagway - which way to go?

I am doing my research, but just can't decide between the Yukon Rail and Bus tour, or the White Pass Summit? Any suggestions? Can someone tell me the vast differences from experience? Which tour company? Thanks so much!

You're looking at dramatically different trips. The Summit train is short and all train. The other is much longer (even the train section is longer) and the variety of scenery is quite remarkable.

Absolutely the longer one is the best, if you have the time. Fog is sometimes (not often) an issue for the first few miles, then it virtually always clears up.

I agree. Take the longer trip or, even better, rent a car and drive yourself!

Renting a car is intriguing. Is there a map or set path I should follow? I am so directional illiterate, is there is a possibility of getting lost and literally "missing the boat"?

We are choosing the longer one. The train has a lot of history and am looking forward to the narrative. If (one can only hope) we would go again then we would rent a car.
