Victor is unavailable for 2/11/08 rainforest excursion. He did reply wiht a botanical garden, new and old San Juan excursion.

Are there any other options for the rainforest excursions that we will recieve similiar service? Or is Victors option worth trying and scrap the rainforest?

WWYD?

What would you do ?

Well, I guess it decides what you like to see on a tour.

The Botanical Gardens used to be very nice. But they don't maintain it like they should. It is not a "garden" like I have been to in states- more like walking through a woods with some labeled trees. Some tropical flowers (not as many as I would like to see) and just a few scraggly orchids in one area. On the positive side, it has some pretty parts and it is lush in areas. Mature trees, you can see turtles and ducks and iguanas. Lots of sculptures around. Makes really pretty pictures.

my review of the gardens:

A tour of new SJ doesn't seem very too interesting to me, but maybe they stop at places like the market or something. Once outside OSJ and the tourist areas, it is kind of ugly.

You could do a tour of OSJ on your own, in foot or via trolley.

I am sure there are other tour companies available to do the rain forest tour if that is what you really wanted to do. Or you could rent a car and do it on your own- it is a pretty easy drive.

Stormtracker,

Just my opinion, why not drive yourself? We've been to PR many times. Everytime, we plan at least a half day at the rainforest. It is absolutely beautiful! It is very easy and inexpensive to rent a car and drive yourself. The roads are all clearly marked, traffic is not bad once you get out of San Juan, and it's great to be on your own schedule. The trails at the rainforest are very easy to follow. Swimming in La Mina falls is a must do!

the new botanical gardens at CAGUAS is a must see (Jardin Botanico y Cultural) i like it much better than the old one located in Rio Piedras, the one in Caguas is also a cultural park as well , very interesting and beautifully done.
