Live from the Conquest Magical Mystery Tour!

Hi folks,

 

Dan B. here on board the Conquest Magical Mystery Tour! :D

 

As you know, the unpredictable path of Hurricane Ivan caused a change in itinerary for this outing. The first round of rescheduling gave us Costa Maya, Cozumel, and Progreso (in that order). On Monday, Costa Maya was dropped for a day at sea and Cozumel was moved to Wednesday. On Wednesday we made Cozumel right on time, along with the Inspiration, and two Celebrity cruisers. It was quite a sight!

 

Early Wednesday morning, we were told that a Thursday stop had been scheduled for Playa del Carmen, and we are anchored just offshore this pretty little beach town. I've already come and gone from shore... it is a very nice area, but I've been here and Cancun a few times already so there's not much left to explore.

 

Tomorrow is Progreso, which I was looking forward to with as much enthusiasm as I reserve for the lifeboat drill... until I noticed that one of the tours was a 7-hour trip to the Mayan ruins at Chichen Itza! I've wanted to check those out for so long, I'm just thrilled we're going now.

 

About the ship - seas were rough on Tuesday. People who were griping about the Costa Maya cancellations (also, some Cozumel tours were cancelled due to hurricane damage) suddenly didn't have much to say when the ship was rocking and rolling in those 20-foot swells. I guess they decided getting closer to Ivan wasn't such a great idea after all. :rolleyes:

 

It's just a lot of fun here, and I'm NOT looking forward to leaving this beautiful ship behind on Sunday.

I just got off the ship last week. I don't care where they port, I would still love to be on board!! I'm so JEALOUS!!
