calmac Posted January 28, 2008 #1 Share Posted January 28, 2008 We're booked on the Norwegian Dream from Buenos Aires to Santiago and have chosen a starboard cabin. Although this is the side of the ship closest to land should we actually expect to see much land during the cruise?
rdowney Posted January 29, 2008 #2 Share Posted January 29, 2008 We booked a starboard cabin on the Azamara Journey for the same reason. However, it made little difference. When cruising off the coasts, land was usually not visible. When going through the straits and channels, the scenery was on both sides.
BPCooper Posted January 29, 2008 #3 Share Posted January 29, 2008 Yes, I also had a cabin for that reason and it wound up not mattering all that much. In the channels the land is usually on both sides. The only time land was only on one side, it was very far off, if not over the horizon.
calmac Posted January 29, 2008 Author #4 Share Posted January 29, 2008 Thanks for your replies. I did think we might not see much (apart from sea!) from our balcony but I just wanted to make sure.
Aussie Gal Posted January 30, 2008 #5 Share Posted January 30, 2008 Put it this way, you have chosen the best side if there is anything to see. We had starboard when we went down to Antarctica 2 years ago and were thrilled with that side of the ship as we seemed to have the best scenery on our side. Also if you are going through the Chilean Fjords, Starboard is great. Jennie
